I finally broke the 200 mark!!! If my family could just stay healthy it would be sooo much easier!! Everyone keeps passing illnesses around. I am starting to feel so much better. I guess not lugging around 39 pounds that I used to lug around makes a big difference. I hope I reach my goal...Beat my mom in a challenge this week in a 2 min. plank!!
I still need to work on the food thing. Fruits and veggies....I really have to work to get them in my diet. I have a picture of me from before and I can really tell the difference. It helps that others are starting to notice how much i have lost. That makes the hard days a little easier!

A Learning Process - Blog: Jennifer
Wow, how fast the weeks go by! So sorry for not keeping in touch sooner...the past two weeks have been very much still in the learning process. I don't remember what all I've filled you in on, but I started this journey by changing my food choices to healthy choices.....then we added to keep track of calories & now for the past two weeks I've stayed the same weight. So, now we are adding protein bars becuz I am not getting the amount of calories that are needed hence the stumped Ginny is trying this for the week. I've been asked if I'm discouraged, but I honestly have not been....I don't have time to be......between normal activites & remembering & finding things to eat, getting up early to exercise....I am just here for The Body Building to direct me in any direction & I try to follow. There is always two sides & the other side is the exericse program....I get in an hour 5 days a week & try to fit in some things at home. I had a friend join The Body Building this past week & that makes working out go so much faster & we push each other. Not all days do you feel like giving more than 100%. The atmosphere at TBB makes showing up easier, very inviting & and the pay off has been for the good. I feel better and can definitely tell I'm getting a little more fit - a long way to go, but been worth the time put in! Will try very hard to remember to let you know how things are going mid week. Talk soon Jenn

Good Efforts Paying Off! - Blog: Austin
This has been a good week. I lost another 2 pounds. I am working on
getting fruits and veggies into my diet. This is a work in progress! last week veggies this week fruits! Each week gets a little bit easier! Last week my mom and I had a competition on the eliptical....I won. The challenge to see who could burn more calories in 35 minutes. I remember the first time I worked out with her, it was a lot tougher then. That is a good sign. I hope I can reach my goal!

Not Eating Enough! - Blog: Austin
This week was kind of tough. I gained a pound early in the week. They told me I was not eating enough! That seems hard to believe. I need to be eating more protein, By the end of the week I had lost a pound. I started spinning to add another cardio workout to the list. It probably is not my favorite. My favorite cardio workout is the eliptical. I get a great workout and feel good when I get done. Each week I feel a little stronger.

Food Journaling is Key - Blog: Jennifer
This is the start of my 4th week. It took this long to get my food journal under wraps. It takes me a long time to change bad habits! One thing I've noticed though is your environment plays a huge part on your decision making! Parties are a killer for me!! That's my idea of good food! They say it's all in moderation - Thank goodness for that! Tomorrow is my day with Ginny, so I'll be sore - Somehow I just can't seem to push myself enough to be THAT sore on my own. Every session with her is great though - I learn so many things! I usually take notes with all there suggestion, so I can look back & remind myself later.
I have had many people say to me they just can't get themselves to take time to work out. It is a huge change at least for me it was, but if you could do one thing keep track of your food. If you put in your mouth you have to write it down. That would be a first step in the right direction. That's all for now ...

One Month Down - Blog: Jennifer
My third weigh in is over - must say very discouraging! I dropped a quarter of a pound this week! We keep food journals every week & after critiqueing mine a thought was that I didn't eat enough calories per day. Ginny suggested 300-350 per meal! After doing some figuring on calorieking.com I'm realizing my meals averaged 100 calories! This eating healthy & multiple meals through the day was a huge adjustment for me! So, I have the meals & snacks down I just need to add more at each one! Like I said before baby steps one at a time! Even those can be overwhelming!! Mind over matter! A fact learned this week was weight loss is 70% food & 30% exercise! I'm hoping after this week that makes a believer out of me! The Lord knows that I have been faithful with the workouts 5-6 days a week and many that I have learned I can do out of the gym! (Watch TV - do an exercise!) (Listen to my kids read- do an exercise!) I don't have a cute little "exercise room" it's called the floor of any room:) Another lesson this week was when you think you can't do anymore whether it be a step, pull, pushup, what have you ....you got one more in there! No pain no loss I'm hoping is a true message cuz I have quite a bit of pain! Oh, yea one other step I started this week was WATER! I now shoot for 12 glasses a day, it's that hard for me I just have to remind myself to drink!! More to come at the end or say the beginning of next week!
One Month Down - Blog: Austin
Things are going really well. I lost several pounds. The workouts were seeming easier then I got sick and was laid up for 4 days. I was afraid I had lost all of my cardio I had gained in my workouts in the previous weeks. I have worked out 4 days straight and my cardio was not lost. I have lost lost 9 pounds since winning the new year new you. I am feeling better and my jeans are big!!! Working with the nutritionist is very helpful. My mom is starting to change the way she cooks for me. Every week I feel new challenges.

2008 New You Project Winners Announced - Blog: Neil
The Body Building chooses a male and female to take the challenge
VAN WERT - The Body Building's second New You Project once again offers the chance for two people, one male and one female, to stop making excuses and to start changing their lives. After more than 25 people entered the contest and told their stories of struggle and hardship with their weight and fitness, The Body Building is pleased to announce the winners who will receive a free three months of focused and driven lifestyle change and fitness.
Two weeks ago the winners met at the fitness club with Neil and Ginny Schaadt, the club owners, and began their orientation for what's in store. Austin Doidge wrote in about his 60 pound weight gain since his freshman year of high school.
“After getting my drivers license and a job, it became easier and quicker to grab food at the fast food drive-thru, without realizing how fast those calories add up. Now I need to do some serious work to get myself back in control.”
For Jen Witten, the chance for hands-on education concerning health, nutrition and exercise was just what she was needing. Making a lifestyle for herself would in turn change the lifestyle of her entire family.
"I have been searching for a way to lose weight and keep it off. I have tried various diets, diet pills and workouts. Unfortunately, not one of them has been successful.” Her husband added that “I am part of the problem. My eating habits are not very good, which in turn makes her fix meals to accommodate me. I am hoping to be part of the solution.”
As readers of this blog, you will be able to follow along with their journey, as they are given all the tools for success by the staff of The Body Building and three months to attempt to reach their set goals. Both Jen and Austin will be blogging twice every week on here and sharing their joys, successes, failures, hardships, frustrations and their goals. It should be a very motivational, inspirational and realistic journey to changing their lives.
The blog will soon offer more information on both Jen and Austin, including more of their stories of how they got to where they are and what they hope to achieve. We will keep you updated on their stats, weigh-ins, fitness plans and goals and other information. We will also be providing photos throughout their journey so you can witness firsthand their changes. Also, the blog can serve as a tool for you to change your own life and finally say to yourself that enough is enough, it is time to make a change for myself, my family and my life. There is no time to waste! The blog also offers the opportunity for you to write positive and encouraging comments to Jen and Austin as they post their blogs on the site.
We hope you will follow along in the media and by linking to this blog via The Body Building website, www.tbbonline.com.

In The Beginning - Blog: Jennifer
Well, I've made it through the first two weeks. I was extrememly sore to begin with (totally out of shape!), but now I am able to walk normal and just have soreness in every part of my body!! I must admit if I didn't have that accountability on me showing up every day, I wouldn't be this committed on my own. Knowing what you should do and doing what you should are two completely different things! Food journaling has been very helpful - not that mine are flawless, but at least I account for what goes in! Puts things in perspective. As one wise gal told me the taste of food only lasts 15 seconds, but 15 years on other places! I'm learning that we should eat for the health of our bodies not the taste in our mouths! Don't get me wrong I still love the taste of food, but .....I'm trying to do better. Baby steps as we call them! Will be in touch in a couple days!

And the WINNERS ARE!!!! Blog: Neil
The winners for the 2008 New You Project are Austin Doidge and Jennifer Witten. Congratulations to you two and Welcome to The Body Building.
The Start of a New You Project - Blog: Neil
As 2008 approaches and people begin to make their New Year’s resolutions, The Body Building, a fitness club located at 220 Fox Road in Van Wert, will once again be looking to find one male and one female who want to change their lifestyle and get in shape. The “New Year, New You Project” was first offered in 2007 and successfully changed the lives of two lucky individuals, Julie Schaufelberger and Dave Kayser. The 2008 project will begin in January and will offer a free three-month membership, personal training and fitness advice to two people who are willing to take the challenge.
“We are excited to offer this contest for the second time, and we hope that we will get an overwhelming response of letters and emails from people who desperately want to change their lifestyle and finally get in shape in 2008,” said Neil Schaadt, co-owner of The Body Building, which opened its doors last February 2006. “What we are offering is a chance for two people who have struggled to find something to work for them, and we want to be the ones that finally get them going.”
The Body Building will be accepting letters and email submission of people’s personal testimonies of why they deserve the chance to take the challenge and the chance to change their lives. The letters should include the person’s full name, address, phone number, email address, age and weight, as well as the reason why you should be selected. Once the winners are chosen, the project will begin in January and run for 12 weeks. They will receive a free three-month membership and two personal training sessions each week during the contest. It is a prize worth over $700. Goals will be set for each individual and if they reach their goals, The Body Building will present them with a special gift package to include a one hour massage and a 30-day unlimited tan package. It is a prize worth over $700. The larger goal, of course, is the potential of changing their lives.
“We will read each letter and email and truly take into account each person’s struggles and stories, as well as their hopes and dreams for beginning on the path to a lifestyle that encourages fitness and nutrition,” offered Ginny Schaadt, co-owner and a certified personal trainer at the club. “We want to choose two people who have struggled for so long and are ready to finally make the commitment to changing. We want them to be honest, open and goal-oriented, and we also want them to know that we are willing to do everything in our power to help them succeed.”
Letters and emails can be submitted to The Body Building at 220 Fox Road, Van Wert, Ohio 45891 or thebodybuilding@tbbonline.com. All contestants should submit a brief reason why they should be chosen, why they are ready to make a change and what goals they have for a new lifestyle. Deadline for submissions is December 29. The winners will be chosen by January 5.
“We hope that anyone out there, male and female, young or old, will write to us and tell us their story. We will do our best to give a tremendous opportunity to two lucky people and will begin the process of changing their lives and getting them into shape,” said Ginny Schaadt.
The Body Building offers a full variety of fitness opportunities located in a state-of-the-art facility. They feature classes in Pilates, Yoga, Zumba, Cycling, various cardio and weights as well as sport specific and personal training. Both club members as well as the public are welcome to take advantage of their tanning beds, massage, training packages and café offering fresh salads and fruit smoothies.
